Cynthia Jordan Fisher
Cynthia is a Montessori Assistant to Infancy, covering ages prenatal to three years. This included observing births and newborns and a practicum in a newborn nursery in Rome, Italy. It was there that she began learning, firsthand, the care of the postpartum mother.
Then, after the birth of her first child in 1986, Cynthia began working in Hawaii, supporting mothers in learning the following about their newborn or infant: basic care including feeding, stimulating, how to read baby’s cues and ways to strengthen their bond with their baby.
Since moving to the Blue Ridge in 1992, Cynthia has been working continuously with families. She began a group for parents and their newborn to age 3 child which she still currently teaches.
In 2006 she also began her work as a postpartum doula for Month10 and is a certified postpartum doula with DONA (Doulas of North America).
While working as a doula she especially enjoys helping new mothers learn newborn care and learning to read their baby’s cues. She likes assisting mothers of more than one, often bringing or creating activities for the new big sibling(s). Cynthia will also gladly help in setting up the home to encompass a newborn or infant’s needs.
