I graduated from UVA in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies and a just a few weeks later, married my high school sweetheart. In 2008 I completed a Master in Teaching in Elementary Education, and I taught 4th and 5th grade for 4 years at a local elementary school.
While expecting our son, I loved learning about pregnancy and childbirth and researched as much as possible. We also hired a doula to help us prepare and had the most wonderful experience. When we found out we were expecting our daughter, we knew without a doubt that we would want to work with a doula again, and we had another lovely experience. I soon decided that I would love to help provide women with the same sort of physical and emotional support that these two ladies had given me. I received birth doula training through DONA International and am so excited to encourage, assist and support women during one of the most exciting times in their lives.
"My husband and I were so blessed to have Mary Mays assist us through the birth of our very first baby boy. Having her there to walk us both through this exciting, yet challenging time, was a huge relief. Not only does she have a wealth of knowledge around the birthing process, she also has a great deal of passion for this special time. We can't imagine welcoming our precious little boy into this world, without her right there by our side."
